ABOUT US

A fairly recent development in the synergy between the neighbourhood of Corktown, the parks system we steward, and the people who use our parks is the advent of dogs in the parks in unprecedented numbers. This is especially true with the opening of the River City Complex and will only grow exponentially with the influx of residents in the new Canary District. Corktown's population is thriving and growing, and there is evidence that it will continue to grow, placing ever greater demands on its public spaces. Continued growth also means continued demand for more and better park amenities for all park users. Additionally, more and more citizens are experiencing our neighbourhood, community and parks with their dog which presents a unique challenge in addressing the impacts of more dogs in the parks. The expressed desire of our group, Dogs of Corktown,  is to address the issue of establishing a safe and suitable area for dogs and their owners to interact and exercise in Corktown Common.
